"We should be thankful to everything and everyone in our life. Let kindness be a small rent that we pay for the small space that we occupy on our planet, Earth."
Speaking about gratitude. We carried out an experiment in which people were divided into 2 groups. Group-1 was told to show some gratitude and say "Thank You" more often. Where as Group-2 was supposed to behave without showing any gratitude.
We started our experiment. Both the groups were introduced to other people without them having any idea about our experiment. People in Group-1 were told to spread out near a beach and communicate with strangers to ask them about the different places they can visit, movies to watch, restaurants to have food and any other topic they would like to have conversation on. We observed Group-1 people very closely. They showed absolute gratitude during their conversations and behaved accordingly as they were told. Everything seemed to be good. Some of them even built a permanent connection with the people on beach and exchanged email IDs and phone numbers to connect in future. This was part 1 of the experiment.
Next, we allowed people from Group-2 to spread out and have whatever kind of conversation they feel like having. As they were not supposed to show gratitude and not be very thankful and pleased, they did exactly what they were told to do. They asked people about different places they can visit nearby and started moving away from the person once they got their answers. They showed absolutely no gratitude to the person they were talking to. While doing that, people on the beach were quite amazed to see the person having such type of behavior. Their body language showed that they would not be interested to talk to any other stranger if this is the way people behave. This was the other part of our experiment.
Do you see the difference between the people from 2 groups?
One group showing gratitude and being thankful to people and the other having a careless attitude.
Which group of people do you think others will enjoy to be with?
It's clear and obvious that people from Group-1 will be successful in making more healthy connections with others compared to people from Group-2. That's how gratitude works.
"People want to be respected and expect to meet kind people."
Show some Gratitude
As seen in our experiment, people from Group-1 have more probability of being connected with people they interact with. In today's world it's all about good connections that you build.Good connections will help you when you need them. They will help you in creating or recognizing new opportunities. It's a way of making new friends, knowing people and thinking from different mental models.
Showing gratitude isn't hard. Just practice saying "Thank You" more often.
Someone helped you in completing your pending work? Say Thank you.
Someone allowed you to enter the room first while holding the door? Say Thank you.
When you practice saying "Thank You" more often, you tend to get positive energy and thoughts about the good things and people around you.
And gratitude is contagious. Others will feel like helping you next time in a similar way. That's how Gratitude works. It helps in building connections in life. It helps in building healthy relationships.
Others will think of you as a good person and will praise you. That is how Gratitude is the currency of life. It helps you build connections and make you a better person.
